Three people were killed and eight others were wounded when several gunmen opened fire inside a restaurant in Crown Heights early Sunday morning, according to a report in The New York Times.
The shooting happened just before 3:30 am inside Taste of the City Lounge at 903 Franklin Avenue, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.
The three people who died were identified as 27-year-old and 35-year-old men and one whose age has not yet been confirmed. The eight other victims were taken to nearby hospitals, but police did not share information about their conditions.
No arrests have been made so far and police said the suspects have not yet been identified. Investigators recovered at least 36 shell casings from the scene.
Video shared on social media showed officers inside the restaurant near pools of blood and broken glass as they began their investigation. The NYPD has confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing.
Taste of the City Lounge opened in 2022 and serves American and Caribbean food. The business also offers a full bar, hookah, and live DJ events. It is located less than half a mile from the Brooklyn Museum and had closed at 3 am on the night of the shooting.
