7 Pak soldiers killed in blast targeting Army vehicle in Balochistan: Report

Seven Pakistan Army soldiers were killed in an IED explosion on Tuesday when their vehicle was targeted in the restive southern province of Balochistan, news agency Reuters reported, citing the country’s military.

At the time of writing this story, it was not known which group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Further details are awaited.

Tuesday’s attack came after a blast targeting a police truck killed three people and injured 19 others in Balochistan province on April 15, Geo TV reported.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist outfit fighting for Balochistan’s independence from Pakistan, has carried out such attacks targeting Pakistan Army personnel and security forces in the past.

The BLA came into the limelight when the separatists hijacked the Jaffar Express in Balochistan in March, resulting in the deaths of over 100 security personnel and civilians, as claimed by the group.
