Adidas has announced substantial discounts of up to 80% on Indian cricket team jerseys ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, reducing the price of official team merchandise from ₹5,999 to ₹1,199. This price reduction comes in the wake of Dream11’s exit as the team’s title sponsor, with the fantasy sports platform terminating its contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to new online gaming regulations. The “FW24 India Cricket T20 International” jersey, which features Dream11 branding, is now available at the heavily discounted price on Adidas’ official online store. The women’s 2025 Test jersey has also received the same 80% discount, making it available at ₹1,199.

India’s Gaming Revolution: New Law Changes EVERYTHING

The sudden price reduction follows Dream11’s decision to end its sponsorship agreement with the BCCI in August. The fantasy sports platform had initially signed a ₹358 crore deal in 2023, which was meant to continue until 2026.The termination of the sponsorship deal is linked to India’s new online gaming law, which implements restrictions on fantasy sports and gambling platforms. This development has prompted Adidas to clear its existing inventory of jerseys bearing the Dream11 logo.

The BCCI has initiated the process of finding a new sponsor by releasing an Invitation to Tender (ITT), with the bidding period extending until mid-September. However, this timing means the Indian cricket team will compete in the upcoming Asia Cup without a commercial sponsor on their jerseys. The absence of a sponsor logo on the team’s uniforms during the Asia Cup will not be unprecedented, as Indian cricket kits frequently appear without sponsorship during ICC tournaments due to uniform regulations. The Indian cricket team is scheduled to begin their Asia Cup campaign on September 10 in Dubai, facing the UAE in their opening group match. The team will depart for the UAE on September 4.A crucial match against Pakistan is scheduled for September 14 in Dubai, followed by a game against Oman in Abu Dhabi on September 19. The tournament’s Group B features Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong competing for Super Four stage qualification. The Asia Cup 2025 tournament will conclude with the final match on September 28.
