IND vs ENG: Virat Kohli fit to play 2nd ODI, confirms batting coach Sitanshu Kotak


Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak confirmed that Virat Kohli is fit to play in the second ODI against Jos Buttler’s England on Sunday, February 9 at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Kotak confirmed the news around Kohli’s fitness in the pre-match press conference.

Earlier, the 36-year-old Kohli opted out of the first ODI on Thursday, February 6 at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur due to an injury to his right knee. Subsequently, he didn’t play, and it was Shreyas Iyer who got a chance to play.

Earlier, Shubman Gill, who became the Player of the Match in Nagpur, also said that Virat was fit to play the second ODI after missing the first.

“When he woke up in the morning, he had some swelling in his knee. He was fine till yesterday’s practice session. There’s nothing to worry about. He will definitely be fit for the next game,” Gill said.
