Tulsi Gabbard says media twisted her Iran testimony after Trump calls her wrong

US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard forcefully responded after President Donald Trump dismissed her assessment of Iran’s nuclear threat as “wrong.” Gabbard, in turn, accused the media of deliberately misrepresenting her remarks to fuel political drama.

“The dishonest media is intentionally taking my testimony out of context and spreading fake news as a way to manufacture division,” Gabbard posted on X, defending her earlier statements to Congress.

Earlier, Trump, speaking to reporters in New Jersey, was reminded of Gabbard’s March testimony, in which she cited US intelligence suggesting Iran was not actively pursuing nuclear warheads. The president reacted bluntly:

“Well then, my intelligence community is wrong. Who in the intelligence community said that?”

When told it was Gabbard, he replied, “She’s wrong.”

In response, Gabbard reiterated that Iran poses a real nuclear threat, clarifying that her comments were being misused.

“America has intelligence that Iran is at the point that it can produce a nuclear weapon within weeks to months, if they decide to finalise the assembly,” she posted. “President Trump has been clear that can’t happen, and I agree.”

Gabbard also shared a full video of her testimony, aiming to set the record straight.
