ChatGPT down for users globally, OpenAI says ‘working to roll out a fix’

Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s popular chatbot ChatGPT is experiencing a global outage, affecting users across the world from accessing the popular chatbot.

The outage has not only affected ChatGPT, but also OpenAI’s API and Sora platforms.

“We’re experiencing an outage right now. We have identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix. Sorry and we’ll keep you updated,” OpenAI tweeted at 5.45 am (IST) on Thursday.

In the latest update, OpenAI said on its website, “We have identified a pathway to recovery, and we are starting to see some traffic successfully return. Continuing to work to return service to normal.”

According to monitoring website DownDetector, there were 2,483 outage reports as of early Thursday morning.

Users have reported widespread disruption to OpenAI services, including several users who pay for an enhanced or ‘premium’ service via subscription and businesses who rely on the API platform for their Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects.

While GPTPro subscribers have reported that they were not able to access the chatbot at all, other users have complained of slow logins and degraded performance.
