Brazilian journalist finds missing girl’s body while reporting her disappearance

A shocking moment was caught on camera when a Brazilian journalist accidentally located the body of a missing 13-year-old girl while reporting live from the scene of her disappearance.

The journalist, Lenildo Frazao, was covering the story at the Mearim River in Bacabal, northeastern Brazil, where the girl, Raissa, had last been seen. She had gone missing after going swimming with friends.

According to the report in The Sun, while standing waist-deep in the river and explaining the conditions in the area, the journalist suddenly jumped and said he felt something brushing against his leg underwater.

The moment, which was caught on the camera, showed the journalist visibly alarmed. He then quickly moved back to shallower water and told his crew, “I think there’s something down here at the bottom of the water.”

He described it as possibly being “an arm,” though he wasn’t sure and wondered if it could have just been a fish.

Following his report, firefighters and divers resumed the search and found the teenage girl’s body at the exact location where the journalist had been standing.

Her body showed no signs of injury and an autopsy confirmed she had died by accidental drowning. The teenager was laid to rest the same day her body was found.
