ENG vs IND, 4th Test Day 1: Ball-by-ball updates from Manchester

15:15 IST:

The skipper of England, BEN STOKES, agrees that his decision is based on the overhead conditions, calling them decent for bowling. On the mood in the English camp post the victory at Lord’s, Stokes says that everyone had a good break in between the Lord’s Test and this one, so it gave a good opportunity for everyone to head back home, put their feet up, take a break and come back recharged. On his own fitness post the third Test, Ben says that he gave everything in that Test but left everything on that ground post the match and just refreshed himself. Believes that all three Tests have gone into the fifth day, which gives a good indication of how closely the teams have fought. On the surface, BS calls it quite firm, with a little bit of grass coverage on top and hopes that his bowlers can make use of that. On the team news, which was already out a couple of days ago, Ben Stokes reiterates that England have been forced to make one change, with Shoaib Bashir being injured and ruled out of this match. Informs that Liam Dawson is back in the side. Feels that Dawson has done incredibly well over the years, not only for Hampshire but everywhere around the world.
