The long-awaited moment for the first “Superman” trailer is finally upon us, igniting a wave of excitement among fans.
Warner Bros. announced on Monday that James Gunn‘s “Superman,” featuring David Corenswet’s unique portrayal as the new Man of Steel, will be released on Thursday at 6 a.m. PT.
Warner Bros. also released a short teaser with the Superman logo that confirmed the trailer’s release date. It repeats the “Look up” catchphrase, a significant phrase in Superman lore, as the famous “S” gets inverted from upside-down to right-side up.
The motion poster that Gun put up before that is a new, official look at David Corenswet’s Superman in flight. Sharing the poster, Gunn simply wrote, “Look up. Superman is only in theatres on July 11.”
The poster, this time for Gunn’s film, remixes the music with a quieter, more thoughtful reimagining. The horns and brass are traded for strings, and a woman’s voice hums the iconic melody.
During his appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gunn previously shared that the upcoming Superman movie will reveal a side of the iconic superhero that hasn’t been explored on screen before, promising a unique and intriguing experience for the audience. “I don’t think we’ve ever seen the big science fiction Silver age Superman aspects that we have in our movie. We’ve never seen, you’ll see when he comes out. We’ve never seen this specific part of Superman’s life,” the filmmaker said.
Gunn’s “Superman,” formerly titled “Superman: Legacy,” will hit theatres on July 11,2025. It’s the first film released under the new DC Studios overseen by Gunn and Peter Safran.
Gunn has for several years been the rare director to bounce between both DC and Marvel films. He first came to DC after directing Marvel’s well-regarded “Guardians of the Galaxy” films. When the Walt Disney Co. temporarily dropped Gunn over old tweets that joked about rape and pedophilia, he jumped to DC and made the supervillain film “The Suicide Squad.”
