Amid the ongoing crackdown on illegal immigrants, US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that his primary concern is not Russian President Vladimir Putin but curbing illegal immigration to prevent the country from following Europe’s path.
Trump, in a post Truth Social, said: “We should spend less time worrying about Putin, and more time worrying about migrant rape gangs, drug lords, murderers, and people from mental institutions entering our Country – So that we don’t end up like Europe.”
Trump’s remarks come a week after his deputy, JD Vance, made similar claims and criticised Europe for failing to curb illegal immigration. Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland, Vice President Vance said that the “greatest threat” facing both the US and Europe is illegal immigration.
“The greatest threat in Europe, and I’d say the greatest threat in the US until about 30 days ago, is that you’ve had the leaders of the West decide that they should send millions and millions of unvetted foreign migrants into their countries,” he said.
