Lambasting the “double standards” of the global political Left, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that leaders like herself, US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Argentine President Javier Milei are creating and leading a new global conservative movement.
Meloni said that the Left’s double standards are exposed as they call it a threat to democracy when these leaders talk about national interests and safeguarding their borders.
She said the world no longer believes in the left wing’s lies, and that they are used to the motivated criticism of nationalist leaders.
Exuding confidence in Trump’s leadership and style of working, the Italian PM pointed out the nervousness among Left liberals, saying that their irritation has turned into hysteria and that they are worried as conservative leaders around the world are winning and collaborating on global issues.
“When Bill Clinton (former US President) and Tony Blair (former UK Prime Minister) created the global leftist liberal network in the 90s, they were called statesmen. Today, when Trump, Meloni, Milei or maybe Modi talk, they are called a threat to democracy. This is the Left’s double standards,” Meloni said in a visibly mocking manner, while virtually addressing a Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington DC on Sunday.
Amid the rising illegal immigrant threat in Italy alongside other countries in Europe, Meloni has often voiced her concerns and called for measures to curb the menace, pretty much similar to what Trump and PM Modi have been working for in the US and India, respectively.
Also, Argentine President Javier Milei advocates for conservative spending and aims to cut down on the federal workforce in the Latin American nation, something which finds replication through Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency in the US.
Meloni continued her tirade saying that despite all the mud that the Left liberals throw at these leaders, people keep voting for them because they are the crusaders of freedom. “We defend freedom. We love our nations. We want secure borders. We preserve businesses and citizens. We defend family and life. We fight against wokeism. We protect the sacred right to our faith and our free speech. And we stand for common sense,” Meloni noted while adding that the struggle maybe hard, but the choice is simple.
